Emanuele is Research Fellow in Philosophy of Science at the the “Riccardo Massa” Department of Human Sciences, University of Milano-Bicocca, Milano, Italy. He also works on cultural evolution with CISEPS - Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Economics, Psychology and Social Sciences, at the same university.

His main fields of research are PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE, PHILOSOPHY OF BIOLOGY, and EVOLUTIONARY THEORY, with an additional interest in models of Cultural Diversity and Evolution. SCIENCE EDUCATION is another main interest, particularly the implications of philosophy of science and philosophy of biology for science education and teaching. Finally, another topic of research is SYSTEMIC THINKING: constructivism, complexity and cybernetics, particularly as they apply to human systems and educational settings.

In 2010 Emanuele has been visiting scholar at the Philosophy of Biology Lab Group, University of Utah, Salt Lake City (UT).

Emanuele is Ordinary Member of ISHPSSB - International Society for the History, Philosophy and Social Studies of Biology; EPSA - European Philosophy of Science Association; and SIBE - Italian Society for Evolutionary Biology.

Emanuele is in the Editorial Board of Pikaia, the Italian webportal of evolution.
